Downham Market Twinning Club

Talk by Sue Welfare

Tuesday night saw a good turnout of members and friends to listen to a talk by Sue Welfare. As always, Sue is a very entertaining speaker. She told us how she started her career as an author by winning two competitions and meeting other authors at her debut in London. Juggling motherhood and a writing career has not always been easy but Sue combined the two with humour and equanimity.

Sue had a change of genre trying her hand at murder mysteries. These were well received but as comedies rather than thrillers! Since then she has had a complete change into crafting. She brought with her some of her handiwork, including pictures, silhouettes and beautiful painted silk scarves.

She has returned to writing going back to murder mysteries. Her new book has sold well and she plans more books set in and around Downham Market, there is even talk about a T.V. series. Afterwards there was a chance to speak to Sue over coffee and see her lovely craftwork.
