20 of us met at the clock in Downham Market for a town walk with the very knowledgeable Mike Bullen.
Although the walk covered a relatively small area of the upper part of the town, it lasted about one and half hours. Mike gave us a potted history of the area, with the help of old photos which he has accumulated over a long period of time. I think all of us gained some new facts about Downham along the way; take a look at the back of the top of the brick pillars, outside the Catholic Church.
We finished our walk near Cannon Square, close to where the famous horse fairs were held.
As we were conveniently near The Castle Hotel, some of us finished off the evening there with food and drink.
As this proved to be a popular evening, I am sure we will arrange another walk in the future, covering a different area of our lovely little town.
