As many of you will have heard by now our dear friend Glynn Howells has passed away. I personally had only known Glynn since I joined the Twinning Club and found him to be man of great presence with a wonderful sense of humour. I will always remember when he said to me, “Every time I start a new tube of toothpaste I wonder if I will finish it!” It makes me smile when I think of it now.
He was a member of our club from the beginning and later served as our chairman for many years, after which he became our president. He had a great knowledge of the French language so he often would translate for us when the French were visiting or when we were in Civray. Some of you were possible taught by him at Downham High school (as it was then) where he worked for many years teaching English and was also the deputy head.
Our thoughts are for Bridget at this sad time and I am sure she will be remembering many happy times her and Glynn spent together.
When I have details of Glynn’s funeral I shall let you know.
Rest in peace Glynn.
Steve Reynolds Chairman
Glynn’s funeral is at Mintlyn Crematorium on Wednesday 13th December at 12.15
